Vernon Cadet Camp Museum Archives

WHAT ARE THE ARCHIVES

An archives is a place where people can go to gather firsthand facts, data, and evidence from letters, reports, notes, memos, photographs, and other primary sources.

In the Vernon Cadet Camp Museum's Archives we have a collection of documents that records important events related to Vernon's Military and Cadet History.  This also incudes a limited collection of the Canadian Cadet History nationally.

RESEARCHING THE ARCHIVE

Due to limited space the VCCM cannot offer independent researchers access to our the archives.
We can however answer requests for information free of charge for the first 15 minutes of research time.
A charge of $25.00 per hour will apply for time spent in excess of 15 minutes.
Requests for information will be responded to as quickly as staff time permits.
Please allow 14 to 21 days response time.

OBTAINING COPIES OF ARCHIVAL MATERIAL

You can obtain copies of most archival material in our collections.
The VCCM's archives can provide one copy of material in our holdings for research and private study when no restrictions apply.  This can be sent to you via email or post at a cost.  As each document is of different size and length different cost will apply.  However, any further copying or use of the material (for example publication) is subject to the restrictions imposed by the Copyright Act.

Be aware that some records may not be immediately available for your use.
Access to records may be restricted for the following reasons:
  • Personal Information Protection Act of British Columbia;
  • Restrictions placed on a collection by the donor; and
  • The records are too fragile or damaged to be handled or copied.
Requests for information will be responded to as quickly as staff time permits.
Please allow 14 to 21 days response time.
