2289 - 5th (British Columbia) Field Artillery Regiment Cadet Corps

This Corps was formed in 1946 and designated as 2289 The 5th Area  Signal Coy CC.  In 1947 it was redesignated as 2289 5th Area  Signal Squadron.  Affiliation with 3 Area Signals Squadron was  authorized in 1957 and the unit became known as 2289 3 Area Signal Sqn CC. Affiiliated: 40th Tech Squadron, Mar 1, 1960. In 1960 sponsorship was assumed by 40 Tech Sqn  RCEME and the Corps title changed to 2289 RCEME CC.  In 1962 the  unit changed sponsors (to 5th Indep Med Arty Bty, RCA (M) and  redesignated as 2289 5th (BC) Independent Medium Artillery  Battery CC.  Following reorg in 1965 the corps assumed their  present title.  Eff 17 Feb 93 a change of designation from  2289-5th (BC) Field Battery to 2289-5th (BC) Field Artillery  Regiment (DCdts adm 177 refers).
