Vernon Army Cadet Camp's name was changed to Vernon Army Cadet Summer Training Centre. Bravo Company while on adventure training exercise on the Thompson Plateau, was hit by severe thunderstorm accompanied by a localized micro burst. The resulting winds knocked down numerous trees. Several DND vehicles and some civilian vehicles were damaged by the falling trees, however there were no injuries. Cadet Leader Instructor Patrol was Instituted, returning canoeing and bush skills to the program. Canoe training took place on Swan Lake.

Grad Parade was held under a sunny sky with LGen M. Baril, CMM, Cd was the reviewing officer, a few weeks later he would be appointed Chief of Defense Staff. The feu-de-joi was fired with Lee Enfield 303s replacing the phased out FN C1 rifle. It was the first time since 1957 the Lee Enfield was used on parade.
