Renovations carried out over the winter improved the ablution facilities in many of the barracks, as well as the hospital. The Staff cadet instructor refresher course trained over 120 candidates from June 27 to July 8. Camp began July 11 with the 1314 cadets on course. Training consisted of 11 courses: 3 Junior Cadet courses each of two weeks, 2 basic sail courses each of two weeks, 3 companies of Cadet Leader course of six weeks each, 2 companies of Cadet Leader Instructor courses of six weeks each, a sea cadet Junior Leader course of six weeks and Band course of six weeks.

36 cadets on exchange from Quebec were on CLI and Band courses. 5 USMC Jr ROTC cadets from Washington State trained on CL and CLI Ex Rambler continues for all Cadet Leader courses on the Commonage. Junior leadership Sea cadet course continues. The sea cadet manned 11 man whalers and circumnavigated the north end of Lake Okanagan, sleeping on board or on shore, covering the 75-mile trip in 5 days. The Sea cadet gun run is performed during Sunset ceremony.

Major Roy Forbes, the long time administration officer and staff since 1958 retired. Major Forbes had the distinction of being on the 1948 Olympic Gold Medal Hockey team, The RCAF Flyers. The Pipes and Drums paraded at the Penticton Peach Festival placing first in their division. A CL Coy and Band Coy parade at Kelowna Regatta. Band Coy also performed at Noric House.

The CLI course continued whitewater training on the Thompson River and rock climbing at Eagle Rock. Paddlewheel park beach phased out of use for swim parade due to reconstruction, Camp Kopje (south of Vernon) used in its place.

The annual sports meet was held at Polson Park and the swim meet at Kal Beach. Six teams of sea cadet entered the Okanagan Landing Regatta and swept 1st through 6th spots in competition. The BNACC band arrived in Vernon for three days of performances. The LdSH (RC) mounted troop visited the camp and demonstrated a musical ride and tent pegging. Visitors included Col D.F. Kinloch, CD, RAdm G.L. Edwards, CMM, CD, Col L.W. Basham, CD, Capt (N) K.M. Young, CD, BGen F.J. Norman, CD and LGen J.W. Quinn, CD. Grad parade on Aug 19, Traffic was temporarily diverted along the Mission Hill road. Vice Adm D.N. Mainguy CMM, CD, Deputy Chief of Defence staff was the reviewing officer
