120 staff cadet candidates arrived June 27th for their 13 day Jr. NCO prep course conducted by 7 Regular force Sgts and WOs, along with several officers. This time-intensive and compressed course would test the senior cadets in classroom, leadership, drill and M of I (Method of Instruction). On the last day, all those cadets who passed the course were then assigned to staff positions in all companies. Due to cutbacks, Regular force NCOs were now reduced to filling only the CSM positions of cadet companies. The following morning cadets began arriving from all across Canada at Kelowna's airport to begin another summer of training.

Band Coy won several prizes at the annual Penticton Peach Festival Parade. LGen Quinn, Col G.D. Simpson; LCol D.B. Kinloch and Col J.P. Beer were guests of the camp as reviewing officers each on one occasion. The BNACC Band paraded for 3 days at Vernon. The Honourable Joe Clark visited the camp. Sunset ceremony held on Aug 16. A Coy won the Sports meet at Polson Park.

Grad Parade: The Skyhawks parachuted onto Dieppe Square a half hour before the Parade began, it was a thrilling spectacle for the audience. Upon descending to the square, the jumpers formed up, saluted, and marched off as the Search and Rescue Twin Otter performed a low level high-speed flypast. The parade having been formed up and waited in the camp, they began marching to the parade square to the cadence of Band Company. The MPs as always stopped traffic on the highway as the Companies crossed the road. The reviewing officer Lt Gov H.P. Irving-Bell DSO, OBE, ED, CD arrived and proceeded to inspect the parade aboard the inspection jeep. Cadet Cory Zelinsky of the #2551 Lake Superior Scottish Regt Cadet Corps was awarded the Sword of Honour, the first time ever for a female cadet.
