1620 cadets began arriving July 7 via chartered Pacific Western Airlines Boeing 737 at Kelowna airport. Some cadets arrived wearing the new cadet work dress or the regular work dress uniforms, others still wearing the soon to be replaced battle dress.
The Junior cadet course, as a one year experiment, changed from three, two-week intakes to two, three-week intakes. Adventure training moved to areas south of the camp and west of rifle range adjacent to camp on the Commonage. Rifle coach spent three weeks in Vernon before competing in Victoria in the BCRA matches; the top 20 cadets then carried on to Ottawa to compete in CDRA matches.
D Coy and half of Band Coy represented the camp at annual Penticton Peach festival parade in late July. The other half of Band Coy paraded at Provincial Legislature for HRH Prince in Late July. Camp visits by Col Howe D/Cadets & MGen R. Rohmer Ottawa 6-7 Aug. Visit by the Royal Inniskilling Dragoon Guards Band of the British Army from CFB Suffield Aug 8-13.
Swim parades held at Okanagan Landing, sports meet held at Polson Park. Swim meet held at Kalamalka Beach under grey skies and unseasonably cool temperatures. Visiting HMRNZ Ships' crew entertained cadets and staff with a Maori Haka War Dance. Maj General Howard was the reviewing officer for the grad parade
