Senior cadets attended two week junior NCO course administered by regular force senior NCOs in preparation for staffing platoon and section positions. Col Beer continued the tradition of welcoming cadets on the apron at Kelowna Airport.

1977 saw the final use of the Glennema training area, before it reverted to Native holdings. Chinook helicopters from 447 Squadron were used to transport to the Monashee Mountains for a post-camp 4 day exercise. Light Assault Floating Boats (LAFB) last used on lake and river crossings.

From 1977 to 1989 and exchange program was initiated with USMC JR ROTC cadets in Snohomish Washington. It gave a unique opportunity for 10 USMC cadets to train alongside the cadets in Vernon. The program was a great success, creating bonds of camaraderie between the two nations.

Typical lunch menu in cadet mess hall: cream of onion soup, grilled ham steak with pineapple sauce, beef and vegetable stew with tea biscuits, American style macaroni, Saratoga chips, creamy whipped potatoes, buttered wax beans, lemon buttered spinach, and assorted desserts.

Reviewing officer LCol Hon. G.L. Molgat, President Army Cadet league of Canada attended the grad parade.

Sword of honour winner: Cadet Neil McKinnon, 2560 RCA RCACC.
