For the first time in its 26-year history, female cadets trained the whole summer at the camp, taking the same courses as the male cadets. A total of 465 female cadets attended camo. The NCO cadet callout course was phased in before camp for two weeks, allowing ample time to train the senoir (call out) cadets for their roles in the companies.
The bulk of the regular force NCO instructors came from 2 Commando Canadian Airborne Regt. They built the obstacle course on the northern edge of Dieppe Square. The course was nicknamed "Lilley's Leap" in honour of LCol Lilley, and proved to be a huge success. 28 Air Cadets, were also at VACC taking their pilots' course, the Air Cadet Flying Scholarship< for the first time.
Soldiers from Calgary's 1st Battalion PPCLI visited the camp, demonstrating M113 armored personal carriers and weapons, as well as performing a helicopter rappelling display during grad parade.
Band Coy travelled to Kelowna and Penticton for the annual Regatta and Peach Festival. BGen R.G. Theriault visited the camp. Drumhead service was performed at the camp's outdoor chapel. H Coy took top honours in sports meet at Polson Park. A warm summer, but not too hot.
