One thousand five- hundred militia troops trained at the camp area in June. On July 10th, 1,300 cadets began arriving. Cadets from northern Alberta were flown in by RCAF Hercules from Edmonton. There was increased use of senior cadets in staff positions along side militia and regular army staff. Pre-Banff cadets were in camp for two weeks prior to departure to Banff. LCdr J. Hobbs visited and inspected the camp as did Brig Danby. Fifty candidates successfully completed the Officers Training course.
Swim instructor Mike Brown defeated all other participants in the annual Kalamalka Lake marathon swim, a grueling ten and a half mile course. A Coy won the sports meet held at Polson Park. The RC Engineers band played in Polson Park in late July. The annual cadet show was held in Polson Park. Lt Gov G.R. Pearkes VC was the reviewing officer alongside LGen Rockingham and Brig Danby. Ten thousand people were in attendance. Guard Coy fired the fue-de-joi. The show ended with a display of fireworks. The final inspection was held on Dieppe Square.
