VCTTC (Vernon Cadet Trades Training Camp) courses were changed to 6 weeks from 7 weeks in length. Twenty-four Jamaican Cadets visited camp and spent 4 days on the ground. Eight  Canadian cadets were selected to travel to Jamaica on exchange. Cool wet weather prevailed, with no significant heat wave.

Some of the films featured in the cadet theatre (B3) were Splendor in the grass, Giant, Rebel Without a Cause, and Rio Bravo. G Coy and the Band paraded at the Kelowna Regatta and Penticton Peach Festival. A swim meet was held at Kin Beach on Okanagan Lake, and a sports meet was held on the 15th of August at Polson Park. The cadet show was well attended by 7000 people in Polson Park on August 22nd. The Vernon News began publishing an annual cadet supplement.
