On July 11, HM Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip visited the camp briefly, walking Dieppe Square as the cadets demonstrated several activities for the benefit of Her Majesty. Thirty cadets attended the Lt Gov Garden Party for HRH Queen Elizabeth in Victoria.
All courses were 7 weeks in length. Battalion parades were held every Saturday Morning. Church parade was held at the open-air chapel and camp chapel, as well as respective churches in Vernon.
Movies were shown in B3 Wednesdays and Sundays. Softball, volleyball and soccer inter-company tournaments were held. Boxing was dropped.
Fishing trips were give to cadets on weekends. GOC's inspection took place on July 30th. Events included the Vernon Regatta on July 13th, Penticton Peach Festival on August 6th, Kelowna Regatta on August 13th, and the PNE on August 22nd.
A sports meet was held on August 14th in Polson Park, and the annual swim meet at the Sutherland Hotel Beach at OK Landing. A talent show was also held at the camp. The searchlight Tattoo attracted 12,000 visitors to Mission Hill on August 19th in honour of the Royal Visit. The Vernon McIntosh Girls Pipe Band, PPCLI Corps of Drums, and the cadet band offered music for the show
