The Driver and Mechanic (D&M) Company trained in the area with convoys north and south of camp. Cadets were paid $25 during the summer, with the balance of their $100 bonus sent home after camp.
Guard Coy formed the Honour Guard for the arrival and brief visit of HRH Princess Margaret at Kalamalka Lake Pier, to officiate at the opening of the new floral clock at Polson Park. Band and Guard Coy paraded at Polson Park for the floral clock ribbon cutting ceremony. Church Parades were held in Polson park at the grandstand.
Many of the officers' wives stayed in town over the summer, living in houses along the beach at Kalamalka Lake. Vernon's economy was boosted by $340,000 in direct camp expenditures. There were 25 regular force officers, 133 regular force NCOs, 14 militia officers, 99 militia NCOs, and 59 CS of C officers on staff. Most of the staff had war time experience. CSM F.E. Ritchie of A coy was given a surprise birthday party with a huge birthday cake by his cadets.
